Alocasia reginula (Black Velvet)

A jewel Alocasia, Alocasia reginula is maybe the most popular member of the Jewels, with leaves that resemble dark velvetey suede with white contrasting veins, hence the name. Native to Borneo, like many other Jewels, this sp. enjoys sub-tropical to tropical conditions.

Alocasia reginula likes bright indirect, to brief partial direct sun exposure, a chunky, well-draining soil mix, moderate to high temps, and would love higher humidity. Likes to dry out in between waterings, and leaves will slightly curl inwards.

May need to be repotted yearly.
