Asplenium nidus 'Hurricane' 4-6"
Asplenium nidus 'Hurricane' 4-6"
One of many cultivars of Asplenium nidus, it is often called the Bird's Nest Fern due to the nest or basket shape that it creates as it grows. This shape is actually beneficial to the species, as in nature, it serves as a debris/litter collector. The species is exclusively epiphytic, making its homes in crooks of tree trunks or high on tree branches. The 'Hurricane' cultivar sports a growth pattern that makes its leaves appear swirled.
Asplenium nidus enjoys bright indirect to partial direct sun exposure, a chunky, well-draining potting mix, and mild to high temps. It needs higher humidity levels to thrive and does not tolerate sitting dry.
It may need to be repotted yearly.
Nontoxic.
4-6" nursery pots available.
