Ficus lyrata 

Ficus lyrata, or more popularly the Fiddle Leaf Fig tree, has become a trendy ornamental indoor tree. The species originating from tropical to subtropical parts of West Africa is biologically not necessarily suited to be a houseplant, so it has garnered a reputation for having behavioral problems in cultivation. In our experience, the Ficus lyrata is a creature of habit and doesn't respond well to change. Providing consistency with environmental conditions is critical to its long-term success.

Ficus lyrata enjoys very bright indirect light to partial/brief direct sun exposure, a chunky, well-draining potting mix, moderate to high temps, and no notable humidity demands, despite what TikTok might have you believe (misting doesn't help these guys or humidity, for that matter). Allow it to dry thoroughly in between waterings, but don't allow it to sit dry for any amount of time. 

It may need to be repotted within six months - year.

It may be toxic to pets and children.
